There is a big difference between ionized acidic water made from tap water and ionized acidic water made by adding salt to the water and then ionizing it. 

Acidic ionized water with salt contains chlorine, making it a powerful disinfectant. Ionic acidic water from tap water is not a disinfectant, but it can be cleaned.  

Health, beauty, and hygiene: the beneficial properties of ionized water  

Alkaline ionized water has some unique characteristics that make it a healthy drink: it has higher alkalinity than ordinary water, so it can offset acidity. Ionized alkaline water also has antioxidant potential and can resist harmful free radicals such as reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen (RNS). 

There is strong preliminary evidence that drinking alkaline ionized water can improve the health of people with poor heartburn control. Some of the health benefits reported by alkaline ionized water research are:

• Inactivates pepsin, the enzyme that triggers GERD  

• Detoxification and protection against the toxic effects of mercury  

• Lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  

Ionized acidic water also has some unique characteristics. It is a slightly acidic solution, so it can be safely used for cosmetic purposes. It has oxidative potential, making it antibacterial potential. 

Acidic ionized water is an excellent hair conditioner. It has two benefits for hair follicles: 

It closes and compacts hair follicles, which leaves your hair softer, more manageable, with a natural shine. For people like me who have long hair that tends to lose their hair easily, acidic ionized water will make their hair significantly healthier. 

It also has a good effect on the skin. Ionic acidic water acts as a natural astringent and helps to get rid of skin conditions such as acne. Plants like acidic ionized water, which provide oxygen to the roots and lowers the pH of the soil to a level beneficial to plants. The ionized water used for cleaning and disinfection is made by adding salt to the water before ionization.  

Therefore, highly ionized alkaline and acidic water are not used for drinking, but for cleaning. When you make ionic saltwater, you will get chlorinated water that can be used as a cleaning agent and disinfectant. 

Many people, even some companies, have found that highly ionized water can replace many cleaning chemicals.

The required clinical research will cost billions of dollars, far exceeding the annual production cost of the entire water ionizer industry. The lack of rigorous testing and huge testing costs make it difficult to use ionized water. This is unfortunate because alkaline ionized water can help many people. They have health problems and are much cheaper than prescription drugs.
